Welcome to
my blog, Health, Love & Happiness!
I am
a proud mom to three beautiful little boys Finn, Gavin, and Owen. I am also a proud wife to my husband, and my best friend, Chris. Three
weeks ago, starting a blog would have been the last thing on my mind, and
becoming a Beachbody coach, hmmmm probably not! It was truly a spur of the
moment decision, and a decision I am happy I committed to!
I have
had an interest in nutrition and exercise for many years, but my passion grew
much deeper after our first son, Finn was born. On September 20, 2010, I
went to my first grade classroom and greeted my 20 little first graders like
any other day. As the day went on, I
knew something wasn’t quite right, so I stayed at school and made sure my
lesson plans were complete for a few weeks. That night we went to the hospital,
just to make sure everything was okay. Within minutes of arriving they said we
were going to be meeting our baby boy much sooner than expected.
Finn was born the next day, 6 weeks premature.
The NICU originally said Finn would stay
with them for about 6-8 weeks. His lungs were not fully developed, and he
needed quite a bit of help in the beginning, but over the next couple of days
he got stronger and stronger. Two weeks later, we were able to bring Finn
home on an apnea monitor. Talk about stress! That crazy machine was
stressful, and boy did we have a love hate relationship with it! We loved it for the security but we sure did
hate it for going off way too often! After a few more hiccups on our journey with
Finn, I thought to myself, it is clear I have no control over life, but the one
thing I do have control over is his nutrition, our nutrition.
I began to read labels more
thoroughly. I did not just look at the
amount of fat grams or calories anymore.
I started to look at the ingredients.
The more I read, the more I learned, and the more I wanted to learn
more! I am so grateful for Finn’s healthy
outcome, positive spirit, and for his helping hand in the kitchen, as he sure does love to be our helper! I love to cook healthy
dinners as a family and find new recipes to bake with our boys.
